Of all the qualities to have in life, confidence is perhaps one of the most important.
A Michiana program is helping girls achieve just that with lessons in self-esteem and team building.
“Girls on the Run Michiana” is a transformational program for girls in 3rd-5th grades. Groups of girls from 11 schools around the area participate in 20 after-school lessons with trained volunteer coaches.
Their final activity, which took place Saturday, is a 5K run. More than 150 local students participated.
Girls also learn and practice skills related to peer pressure, bullying, healthy body image and gossip.
“Girls on the Run Michiana” is an independent council of Girls on the Run International.
