Girl Scouts and Red Cross team up on a blood drive in Michiana

Two iconic organizations are joining together to help save lives. Their motto is Give blood. Get a cookie.

The Girl Scouts of Michiana and the American Red Cross are hosting nearly two dozen blood drives this month in communities across Northern Indiana and Michigan.

As the cookie selling season gets underway, they are offering folks a little extra incentive to roll up their sleeves. If you give the gift of life, you will get to sample one of their famous treats in return.

The two groups are hoping their new partnership will entice more people to “Do-Si-Do” on over and donate, and encourage their friends to “Tagalong,” too.

“We need 500 units of blood and that is just what we need to be able to meet the demands of patients for the hospitals,” says Tracy Duncan the Communications Manager at the American Red Cross. “The only way to make sure that happens is if generous donors stop by our blood drives, spend about an hour of their time, and helps save three lives.”

The next blood drive scheduled in our area is this Monday at Lagrange First United Methodist Church from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
