It was a Girl Scout takeover at Concord Mall, as volunteers camped out to tell young girls what the program is all about.

This Cabin Fever event took girls on a journey, showcasing the different activities Girls Scouts can get involved in.

It's the first time the Girls Scouts have organized this kind of event in Elkhart County. The goal is to gain both troop members and volunteers. Even Congresswoman Jackie Walorski stopped by.

“Some girls will sign up just to be out there selling cookies,” says Congresswoman Jackie Walorski. “I am thinking well this is the land of America, in Elkhart County the land of entrepreneurs and here we have little girls at the age of five and six selling cookies. They see the money exchange, get excited. These young girls are understand the value of saving money for something they wanted to do a.”

The Girl Scouts also teamed up with the Red Cross for a blood drive, as a way to show the community service that goes along with joining the scouts.
