A gas leak Friday morning shut down a busy section of a major St. Joseph County thoroughfare.
It happened around 11 a.m. Friday in the 52000 block of State Road 933, right in front of the Karl Weis Auto Body Shop in Clay Township.
NIPSCO says a contractor was digging along the side of the road and struck a plastic gas line.
The leak was capped about an hour-and-a-half later, but 933 was blocked off between Clifford Street and Brick Road until just before 3 p.m.
Most of the road has since reopened, but the western-most southbound lane on 933 is closed in the area through the night.
Karl Weis and a nearby car dealership were also without natural gas service.
