Elkhart - Funeral arrangements have been made for the man accused of opening fire at a Michiana grocery store.
Police say Shawn Walter Bair, 22, of Elkhart entered the Martin’s on Bristol Street around 9:30 p.m.
After roaming the store for more than 30 minutes, Bair shot and killed a 20-year-old employee and 44-year-old customer before holding the store’s manager hostage by gunpoint.
Officers arrived and fatally shot Bair when he took off running down one of the aisles.
Family and friends will gather Monday, Jan. 20, to remember Bair. A visitation is planned from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home in Elkhart. The funeral home has asked the Elkhart Police Department to provide security for the visitation.
Bair’s family has asked all donations in his name go the Riley Children’s Hospital.
