Fundraiser to help provide service dog for woman struck by lightning

A fundraiser is going on this weekend to help a young woman struck by lightning years ago.

Back in 2006 Katelyn Toth suffered traumatic brain injuries that she continues to fight today.

Now her family is working to raise money to help find Katie a service dog.

Back in 2006 on Lake of the Woods in Bremen Katelyn was struck with a bolt of lightning.

Since that time she's undergone several surgeries and has limited speech and mobility.

A service dog could help her pick things up, get around a little easier and provide companionship.
Katelyn’s aunt, Cathy Snow, says, “Stability, companionship, keeping her relaxed, giving her another focus besides herself.”

There will a benefit at the American Legion in Edwardsburg Saturday from 4 to 8.
Tickets are ten dollars per person. There is a silent auction and raffles.
