A local man has volunteered to help save Elkhart's Wall of Heroes.
About five years ago, Donald Fisher created the tribute to Indiana's fallen soldiers, firefighters and police officers, but he had to put the memorial and the property it sits on up for sale because he can no longer afford to pay the taxes.
However, according to the Elkhart Truth, Jason Moreno is working with Fisher to save the site.
He has set up a fund to raise money for the memorial wall. Anyone wishing to help out with their effort can make a donation at any First Source Bank location. The memorial wall is on the market for $35,000.
Moreno said he will also ask the Elkhart City Council for a tax abatement on the property as long as it continues to be used as a memorial.
