We are officially in October and that means the thought of trick-or-treating is here. Even though a recent survey shows spending will be down this year, Americans will still spend close to $7 billion on costumes, treats, festivities and pets.
At Fun F/X in Mishawaka, they've been preparing for October, their busiest season, since last December. They have a huge variety of costumes, a make-up selection filled with new, very realistic tattoos and a wide selection of indoor and outdoor decorations.
If you are trying to save a little this year, they have some options for you as well.
“Almost half of our store is dedicated to accessories and make-up, so a lot of times you can get something that you might have around the house add a few accessories to it and become a new character,” says store owner Victor Cao. “I think it’s just because it’s a fun time. Halloween isn't just a one day anymore, it’s the whole month of October and people just enjoy it. It’s about having fun and playing pretend and it’s a lot of fun”.
At Fun F/X, they even have a Haunted Hallway to help get you in the spooky spirit and for good reason. Halloween is a big deal for retailers.
It's the last major event on the calendar before the crucial holiday season and often offers clues into how much shoppers will be willing to spend on holiday gifts.
