The warm weather Friday morning didn't stop people from getting outside for Fridays by the Fountain event.
It's the 12th year in a row for the concert series, held in Downtown South Bend outside the Morris Center. Friday, oldies band Chantilly Lace performed for a crowd of a couple hundred, both young and old. It's been a popular event every year since 2001, and organizers know why.
“It's free,” says Denise Zigler from the Morris Performing Arts Center. “It's hot outside, and it's a nice family event. So we have kids, seniors, and every age group comes out and enjoys the music and checks out downtown.”
The concert series will continue every other Friday through the end of August. Next up is country band Everyday People on July 13.
