Nate Andrews will be the first to tell you Friday Night will be emotional.
The former NorthWood football player is in his 1st year as the Panthers head football coach and has the program already headed in the right direction. NorthWood has won its first two games.
Friday night will be Andrews first home.
It will come at Andrews Field, the stadium named after his late father Jim who died tragically in a car accident in the early 90s when Nate was still just a kid.
"So many good memories out on that field not only with dad as a young kid and being on the sidelines for some of those great teams throughout the 80s but also playing out there with my big brother and having great teammates and great community support and those types of things," Nate Andrews says. "We've had great memories, we've made great memories. I'm really excited to make some more."
NorthWood will also have an incredible challenge on their hands as their opponent will be defending Northern Lakes Conference champions and fellow unbeaten Concord. Minutemen head coach Tim Dawson is well aware of what the surroundings will be like Friday.
"Our players have to understand that we are going down there to Andrews Field and it's a special night for them," Dawson says. "We have to match their intensity, maybe out match it and executive better."
"It will be a fun one because it will be a packed house but its nothing we haven't faced before," 4-year Concord starting safety Brandon Thomas adds. "It's hyped up but for us, it's another game and we're just as excited as they are to take them on at their field. Should be a good one."
With a number of teams in the mix to battle for the NLC title, Friday will also go a long way in determining a potential NLC Champion.
The game is our Martin's Spotlight Game of the Week and will kickoff at 7:30pm Friday. I'll be live at Andrews Field Friday. Coach Andrews will join me for live interview at 5:45pm with Coach Dawson joining us at 6:20.
