SOUTH BEND Health care can be one of the most expensive items in the budget, so many people forego procedures that don’t seem essential.
Ignoring dental hygiene can have some serious health consequences, beyond just bad breath, so each September, Mahoney Family Dentistry hosts its annual Dentistry from the Heart event – a day of free dental care.
They perform as many services as they can in that day, providing free cleanings, fillings, and extractions to as many as 250 people. The value of the services equals more than $100,000.
Registration for the event begins at 5a.m. on Saturday, September 7. Any adult over age 18 is eligible. There is no need for an appointment. You don’t need dental insurance. Just get in line early because it is first come, first served.
Seven dentists are present to perform as many procedures as possible. They are limited to one per person, so the professionals will help you decide which is most important.
St. Joseph Regional Medical Center will also provide free mammograms from 9am-1p.m. nearby, in the parking lot at Pfeifer, Morgan & Stesiak on Ironwood.
