Cass County investigators believe the victim of a recent mobile home fire was the owner of the residence.

Crews responded to a fire in the 17000-block of Chain Lake St. just after 4:00 a.m. Thursday.

Authorities say it took hours to put out the flames, and firefighters had a tough time due to narrow, muddy paths around the mobile home.
The body of a person was found inside after the fire was put out.

The Cass County Sheriff's Office reported Friday that an autopsy was performed and that the victim died from injuries sustained in the fire.

Foul play is not suspected in the death.

The cause of the fire has been ruled undetermined. However, no evidence was found to lead investigators to believe that arson is suspected.

A positive identification of the victim will not be known until the results of DNA testing is completed, which could take up to 60 days.

The owner of the mobile home is Lucy Pargo, 78. She lived there alone and has not been seen since. Investigators believe that it is likely that she is the victim of this fire.

The incident remains under investigation until the identification of the victim can be confirmed.
