Former Penn standouts Rosenthal, Dreisbach lead Indiana Football Hall of Fame Class

Former Penn High School teammates Mike Rosenthal and Scott Dreisbach led the 8-man class into the Indiana Football Hall of Fame Friday night at St. Hedwig's in South Bend.

Rosenthal and Dreisbach led the Kingsmen in the mid 90's before going on to become rivals in college. Rosenthal was an All-American lineman at Notre Dame while Dreisbach was a 2-year starting quarterback at Michigan.

The two remain best friends however and each married a Texan and now live in Austin. They coach high school football and their sons' little league baseball teams together.

"It's a great honor, our families are really close and so many great people that have touched both of our lives at Penn High School are here so it's a great honor to go in at the same time," says Dreisbach.

"It's extra special going in with Scott, knowing that we played in so many great games together and we've been great friends ever since," adds Rosenthal.

Rosenthal also said it was an honor to enter the Hall of Fame with Brian Boulac, who served as a long time softball coach, assistant football coach and assistant athletic director at Notre Dame. Boulac worked for more than 50 years at Notre Dame.

"They called me and told me I was nominated and elected into the Indiana Football Hall of Fame and you probably could have knocked me over with a feather when they said that because that's the furthest thing in my mind," Boulac says.

Believe it or not, legendary Notre Dame Football Coach Frank Leahy was not already in the Hall of Fame. His daughter Sue stood in for her late father.

Others that were inducted into the Hall of Fame include former Mishawaka and IU safety Chuck Alexander, former SB Washington and Dallas Cowboy defensive back Ron Fellows, former Adams and Purdue standout Rick Sayers and former Adams, Mishawaka and Notre Dame team physician Dr. Paul Macri.
