NILES Details are emerging about the compensation Niles' former superintendent is receiving, now that he has resigned.
The Leader filed a Freedom of Information request with the district, and found that Richard Weigel will be paid a full year's salary, as part of the severance package. That will be a lump sum payment of $115,000.
Weigel will receive his normal wages and continue paying for health benefits until June 30th, while he is serving as a consultant.
The board of education formally accepted Weigel's voluntary resignation last week. Weigel says his vision for the future differed from the board and administration.
