An elementary school principal in Nevada has been placed on leave after school officials found out he's on parole for embezzling money from a Benton Harbor school fund.
That's according to our reporting partners at WSJM.
Andrew Stansberry admitted to stealing from a fund for field trips and school supplies from 2007 to 2009.
Police Chief for the Nevada School District says if Stansberry's arrest had been shown in a background check, he may not have been considered for the job.
Stansberry was sentenced to 30 days in jail and ordered to pay back the money he embezzled.
Before he was sentenced, Stansberry apologized and said he was under financial stress.
