Former Benton Harbor principal admits embezzling money

A former Benton Harbor area principal has been sentenced for embezzling money.

Our reporting partner, the Herald Palladium, says Andrew Stansberry was sentenced to five years on probation and ordered to pay restitution of just under $26,800. He also has to serve 30 days in jail.

Stansberry embezzled from a fund supported by school administrators.

Before he was sentenced Stansberry apologized and said he was under financial stress. He said he couldn't put food on the table for his family and couldn't make his mortgage payments.
