The Northern Indiana Food Pantry in St. Joseph County is getting a huge boost to help feed needy families.
Walmart presented a check for $50,000 to the pantry Thursday morning.
Recently, the pantry had to cut hours in half, due to lack of funds.
The donation will help with that, as well as go a long way in helping to provide the nearly 2,000 meals the pantry serves per month.
“I think we like to be involved in anything that is beneficial to people in need. and obvisouly the food bank is something like that. and again the need has been so great,” said Scott Rouff, Store, Manager at the Ireland Rd. Walmart. “People come to the food bank here, or get assistance from the food bank.”
The donation by the Walmart Foundation is part of its historic pledge of $2 billion through 2015 to help the hungry in America.
