SOUTH BEND, Ind. People on both sides of the abortion debate gathered Wedensday in South Bend.

Wednesday was the 41st anniversary of the Roe v. Wade supreme court decision.

The March for Life was held in front of the St. Joseph county court house.

The march is a national event held to raise awareness for people against abortion.

There were also pro-choice supporters gathered downtown, as both sides made their voices heard.

“Since 2011, we have had good laws put into place to protect women and their health with the risky procedure and limiting abortions for many reasons,” said Jeanette Burdell with St. Joe County Right to Life.

One supporter of abortion also talked about why she attended the event.

"We will continue to provide safe legal treatment in South Bend as we have for the last 30 years," she said. "Until the current issues are resolved and we are here today to continue to support the legal right to choose."
