Michigan firefighters are calling for big changes in Benton Harbor after a fire fighter was injured on the job last month.
WSJM reports that the Michigan Professional Firefighter's Union will hold a press conference Tuesday. There they'll ask the state treasurer and Benton Harbor's emergency manager to put an end to the city's public safety department and replace it with separate police and fire departments.
This comes just weeks after Lieutenant Doug Bell was badly burned while putting out a house fire in the 1000 block of Jennings Avenue. He had several skin grafts and faces a tough recovery.
The firefighter union says public safety officers aren't adequately trained to fight fires.
