Firefighters setup fund for 6-year-old rescued from sand hole

Some of the people who helped save a 6-year-old boy's life Friday are helping once again.

Nathan Woessner was trapped in an 11-foot sand hole at Mt. Baldy along the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore in Michigan City for nearly four hours Friday night.

The Michigan City fire and police departments, as well as several private excavating companies, were called in to help dig the boy out.

Now, some of the firefighters who helped have setup a fund to help pay Nathan's medical bills. He's currently being treated at a Chicago hospital and is in critical condition. But, doctors are optimistic he could make a full recovery.

Donations can be made through the Unity Foundation of LaPorte County.
