SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A new class of South Bend firefighter recruits got down and dirty Tuesday at Seitz Park.
Members of the recruitment class busted out the soap and water to clean the firefighter memorial at Seitz Park in South Bend.
But the cleaning wasn't a punishment for the rookies.
It was to honor their fallen brethren and learn from the mistakes they made. This year is especially important since it's the 10th anniversary for the memorial.
Members of the recruiting class graduate Wednesday and they won't waste any time. Some of the recruits could be on duty as soon as Thursday.
