A volunteer firefighter is facing charges in a string of alleged drunk driving accidents early Sunday morning.

First, police say another driver had to swerve around Dennis Masek, 37, of LaCrosse after he stopped his car in the middle of US 421 in LaPorte County.

When the driver stopped to find out what was going on, Masek allegedly drove his car into a ditch.

According to the Northwest Indiana Times, Masek admitted to driving drunk once police were called to the scene.

Officers also found out Masek had reportedly crashed into two trees and a parked car earlier that night.

The firefighter was booked into the LaPorte County Jail.
