South Bend fire crews quickly put out a fire at a home in the 100 block of west Indiana just off South Michigan Thursday night.

The fire started around 7:30 p.m. in a second story vent room. Crews found heavy black smoke coming from the second floor.

They were able to put the fire out in about 5 minutes, and fortunately all the residents were out of the home.

No one was hurt. The cause is still under investigation.
