Four engines responded to a fire on the 1500 block of W. Poland St. in South Bend after a fire started in the front room of a house.

At around 9:00 a.m. the South Bend Fire Dept. dispatched to the residence and found smoke and “active fire conditions” in the front room of the house. No one was home at the time, but neighbors say a father and his two sons live there.

Firefighters quickly contained the flames, but according to officials the home suffered around $20,000 of structural damage primarily from smoke.
