Stop, drop and roll! That's the phrase most are used to when it comes to fire safety, but there's a lot of helpful tips to keep in mind when thinking about how to prevent disaster.
National Fire Prevention week starts Monday, and the Mishawaka Fire Department is making sure the local community is involved by visiting schools and providing information to the public about how to stay safe during a fire.
The theme of this year's Prevention Week is Have Two Ways Out. Those two ways could be multiple doors and, or windows, but the fire department reminds us that it's important to practice those escape routes at least twice a year.
Fires start small, so keeping outlets clear, turning off the stove and lighters away from children are just a few tips that can prevent a fire.
