The number of Indiana businesses selling alcohol to minors continues to be at an all-time low thanks to increased inspections by the state excise police.

Excise officers working with underage youth conducted nearly 10,000 inspections in 2012 and found just over 500 businesses in violation of the alcohol laws. The estimated 5.2 percent failure rate marks a slight decrease from the year before.

St. Joseph County was the only county in Michiana with a failure rate higher than 10 percent, but LaGrange and Pulaski counties were two of 17 to have perfect scores, and Fulton County reported only 2.3 percent failure.
