HAGAR TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- A family lost their home in a fire early Tuesday morning.

It started around 1 a.m. at a home along the Red Arrow Highway in Hagar Township.

The homeowners had left around 8 p.m. Monday to pick up their daughter in Chicago, and, according to our reporting partners at WSJM, they returned to find firefighters battling a fire at their house.

The family's two dogs were in a kennel outside the home and were not hurt.
