MICHIGAN CITY, Ind.--- It's a special anniversary for an Illinois family.

The one year anniversary of the day their son survived.

This time last year, Nathan Woessner was stuck beneath 11 feet of sand in the Mount Baldy Sand Dune near Michigan City.

He was there for three and a half hours, struggling to breathe, until rescuers got to him.

He spent two weeks in the hospital, but today, he is a happy seven yr. old.

He barely remembers that day.

"There really is no other way to look at it, but you know, with the greatness of the outcome that there is, we treat it more of a celebration," said Greg Woessner, Nathan’s father.

Mount Baldy is still closed, and park officials don't know exactly what caused part of the dune to collapse.
