Wednesday morning about a dozen crews were working in one area of South Bend that was hit the hardest.
Dozens of old trees were knocked down in the neighborhood close to the Potawatomi Zoo.
Two houses alone lost 15 trees altogether.
Extra crews by AEP from around the midwest have been brought into the South Bend area to help clear away trees, and get the lines back up.
“We restore power where the most customers are on an individual circuit,” says Brian Bergsma from Indiana Michigan Power. “So if we have an entire street out, that is our priority….restoring as many people as we can in the quickest manner possible.”
Nipsco estimates power will be back on for most customers by Thursday.
However Indiana Michigan Power says they are working to get power back on by Friday.
