Exercise for free with non-perishable food item

South Bend, Ind. This week, the Kroc Center is encouraging members and non-members to bring in a non-perishable food item or household item to help restock its food pantry. In return, anyone has an opportunity to try out a fitness class and look at the new fall schedule.

Many people don’t know about the Walter A. Meyer Food Pantry. It’s a food pantry that is connected to the Kroc Center on the west side of the building. It provides food to any St. Joseph County resident who is in need of some help.

Individuals can use the pantry once every 30 days and no more than six times per year. Make sure you bring a picture ID for all household members age 18 and over, birth certificates for all household members age 17 and under, social security cards for all household members, and proof of address.

The Kroc Center offers about 60 classes and you can try any one of them with a donation. They have classes like Zumba, Yoga, Hip Hop, Boot camps and more.

The gym is open Monday through Thursday 5:30 a.m. – 9 p.m., Friday 5:30 a.m. – 7 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m.- 7 p.m. and Sunday 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The food pantry is open Monday from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. and Tuesday and Friday from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
