LOWELL, Ind. A Lowell man was arrested for allegedly impersonating an excise police officer. Ray Thompson is accused of impersonating the officer at Cliffhangers Bar on Deanna Drive earlier in December.

The 51-year-old told the bartender and a patron that he was an excise officer. The bar's owner became suspicious when she learned Thompson told the bartender he was recording their conversation about the bar's security and camera systems on the weekends.

The Monday arrest comes after a similar case from March of this year, when excise officers arrested a Muncie man for impersonating a police officer outside a bar.
