Elkhart County officials have declared a level one state of emergency.
Here's what the declaration reads:
"Travel may be restricted to emergency personnel only. Citizens are directed to refrain from all travel, comply with necessary emergency measures, cooperate with public officials and disaster services forces in executing emergency operations plans, and comply with the directions of properly identified officers."
Meantime, mayor Dick Moore has declared a snow emergency.
According to the city's press release, that means nothing but essential emergency vehicles should be on city streets until the declaration is canceled.
Elkhart city offices will be closed on Wednesday but all emergency personnel must still report. All activities for the park department have been canceled, including those for NIBCO Water and Ice Park.
