Elkhart, Ind. An Elkhart woman is one step closer to competing in the 25th anniversary Hoosier Millionaire game show this August.
Tiffany DeVon said she remembered watching the popular show as a kid and jumped at the chance to compete on the anniversary show this year.
“When I saw that they had that ticket coming out, I said I'm going to win this,” DeVon said. “I'm going to enter all my losing tickets and I'm going to be on this show.”
After entering about 79 losing tickets, with some contributions from her father, Tiffany got a call from the Hoosier Lottery last month.
“I saw that it was the Hoosier Lottery so I ran to the top of the stairs and I said ‘Tiffany, you might want to take this call,’” Tiffany’s mom, Peggy DeVon, remembered. “And she said ‘Who is it?’ and I said ‘You might want to take this call!”
Tiffany learned that she won a trip to the semifinal Hoosier Millionaire Road Show round in Evansville on March 27. There she will compete against 5 other contestants for a shot at the finale show in August at the Indiana State Fair.
“I just look at this as a blessing,” said Tiffany, who said she’s bringing her best friend and ten VIP’s along for the ride. “Really, there's so much negative stuff going on all the time and I'm just really excited to be part of something positive.”
While Tiffany realizes she might not make it to the million-dollar round, she can’t help but think about what she’d do with the money. After paying off her debts and paying back her parents for their help over the years, she said she’d work to make her dream come true.
“If I won the million, I would love to start my own bakery,” said Tiffany. “I love baking, I love cookies and candy. I mean, I like the job that I have now, but it's not my dream and that's what I would do with it.”
