The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Dept. is shedding some light on much of the other work they do in the community other than investigating high profile crimes.
In 2012 the department says it responded to more than 55,000 phone calls, and unlike what people may see on television or in movies, only four of those calls were homicide cases.
The majority of the work done by officers involves traffic stops, domestic disputes and other check-ins on the community.
“We wanted the public to know that we respond to a lot of different types of calls, it's not just the serious types of crimes that you see and let them know we are here to serve them based on any situation that may arise” Lt. Travis Adamson of the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Dept.
