The Elkhart sewer saga will be back in the spotlight later this month.
According to our reporting partners at the Elkhart Truth, Mayor Dick Moore is preparing what will now be the fourth compromise proposal aimed at ending the more than nine month debate.
He’ll present details of his plan to council members at their Sept. 23 meeting.
The dispute centers around how commercial customers outside the city limits should be charged for sewer service.
The mayor has stuck with a formula that relies on assessed property value to calculate monthly charges, while republicans want to switch to a surcharge based on usage.
