Elkhart sewer dispute finally over

Elkhart, Ind. The sewer dispute in Elkhart is finally over after a solid year of debate. Monday night, the council voted unanimously on a plan that will end the compact fee by 2015.

According to the Elkhart Truth, customers outside of the city will switch to a surcharge, based on 25 percent of their property values.

The plan is a big compromise from Mayor Dick Moore, who originally wanted to keep the compact fee in place until 2018.
