Elkhart police dog retires today

ELKHART A very important member of the Elkhart police force is retiring after five years of service.

K-9 unit Xantos will fulfill his last full day of duty Tuesday. He began his police service in August of 2008.

He will retire and remain with his partner, Corporal Snyder, as a family pet.

Both received an outstanding service award from the National American Police Work Dog Association.
