ELKHART, Ind. - An Elkhart man has been sentenced to 80 years behind bars, for trying to set his ex-wife on fire.

Last month, a jury found Larry Haines, 47, guilty on all five charges, including felony burglary, battery with a deadly weapon and intimidation, and attempted arson.

Police say he kicked in the woman's door, doused her with lighter fluid and threatened to kill her.

Then, Haines continued to threaten her, until she finally reached the safety of a neighbor.

In court, prosecutors highlighted the fact that Haines was under a protective order at the time.

The judge said he was shocked by the lack of remorse shown by Haines during the sentencing.
