Elkhart, Ind. An Elkhart man is behind bars Wednesday night after he lied about having diabetes, to cover up his drug use.
According to our reporting partners at the Elkhart Truth, Julian Hogendobler, 24, was arrested last Friday while he was riding his bicycle along CR13, north of US33, just east of Concord High School.
An officer initially stopped Hogendobler for not having any lights on his bike, but then came across hypodermic needles stowed away in a plastic bag that he was carrying.
At first, Hogendobler said he was just diabetic, but eventually confessed to using the needles to inject meth.
Police also found a 20 oz. bottle in the bag, containing a substance that later tested positive for the drug.
Hogendobler said he'd been on his way home to finish "cooking off" the meth.
He's since been formally charged with dealing meth, and is currently being held in the Elkhart County Jail on $100,000 bond.
His initial hearing is set for Thursday morning.
