An Elkhart man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for molesting a child.
According to reporting partners at the Elkhart Truth, 54-year-old Tim Lee Hyser was found guilty of the crime, carried out on more than one occasion when he was babysitting the child.
Prosecutors say the child tried to stop him by saying he or she had told his or her parents about the abuse. In response, Hyser contacted the Department of Child Services and alleged that the child's stepfather was abusive. Investigators found no grounds for that claim.
The victim testified against Hyser.
Hyser maintained his innocence and plans to appeal the decision.
