Elkhart man breaks leg in motorcycle crash

Elkhart, Ind. An Elkhart man will soon master crutches after breaking his leg during a motorcycle accident.

The crash happened Friday evening, on the portion of North Shore Dr. just east of Belle Ave. This area is a mile outside of Elkhart City limits.

Michael Colcord, 57, of Elkhart, was riding his 1994 Harley Davidson east bound on North Shore when he crossed over the center line.

This caused his front tire to strike the front end of a 2009 Lincoln MKS traveling in that lane. That car was driven by Shaylor King, 84, of Elkhart.

Both Colcord and King were wearing property safety equipment. Colcord was taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital for a broken leg.

No citations have been issued, but the crash is still under investigation.
