ELKHART, Ind. - Elkhart's city council will receive its annual list of spending requests from the mayor when it meets Monday.
According to our reporting partners at the Elkhart Truth, this year's request includes 28 items that total nearly $2.4 million.
Mayor Dick Moore outlined his plan in a four-page letter to council members, and noted that original requests from department heads totaled more than $17 million.
The amounts are a compromise of sorts, between satisfying the needs of the city departments and ensuring strong bank balances to help maintain the city's quality credit rating.
