Elkhart The fines are stacking up against a Michigan community sharing a sewer network with the city of Elkhart.
Tuesday, Elkhart's Board Of Public Works approved more fines against Ontwa Township, bringing the total to nearly $28,000.
Ontwa Township officials were at the meeting to outline their plan for dealing with the problem of excess levels of hydrogen sulfide. Ontwa suspects that two companies are responsible for releasing the corrosive chemical.
