ELKHART Elkhart's mayor is threatening to start charging city councilman for requested documents after what is likely the largest request in the city's history.

The Elkhart Truth reports that Brian Dickerson asked the city to turn over 7,000 pages of documents regarding a sewer compact fee. The city says the copies and labor added up to more than a thousand dollars in expenses.

Dickerson requested the documents, saying that the administration had not been forthcoming about the financial details of the controversial compact fee proposal.
