ELKHART, Ind.--- A proposal allowing chickens inside Elkhart city limits is being placed on the back burner.

Councilman Brian Dickerson tells our reporting partners at The Elkhart Truth, that he won't raise the issue this year unless the Council considers changes to the city's animal ordinance.

However, the council is considering revising a policy to allow backyard camp fires.

Right now, folks have to douse their fires if even one person complains to the fire department, but some say that isn't fair, especially with the growing popularity of fire pits.
