Elkhart church to hold educational workshop Saturday

An Elkhart church will be hosting an educational workshop this Saturday.

The topic is "How to Improve Black and Hispanic Students' Academic Achievement."

It will be held Saturday at St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church at 11 a.m.

Community leaders like Elkhart Mayor Dick Moore and Elkhart Community Schools Superintendent Robert Haworth gathered to promote the event Tuesday.

An education expert and consultant will be giving the talk.

It will discuss the ways community members can positively affect the educational experiences of African American and Latino youth.

The event will be followed by Cornbread and Jazz, a show featuring artwork and live jazz.

Some of the featured artists are currently imprisoned.
