Elkhart, Ind. Police in Elkhart have arrested a convicted robber and counterfeiter after he barricaded himself inside his apartment for hours Wednesday night.

Authorities arrived at the Washington Gardens apartments around 7:45 p.m. to serve a warrant for Delvon Tolbert on forgery and robbery charges. But he refused to come out of the building.

A SWAT team quickly surrounded the structure and attempted for more than three hours to coax Tolbert out.

He was finally arrested around 11 p.m.

No shots were fired and no injuries were reported.

Our reporter at the scene said at one point police were shooting tear gas into the building.

The complex is located at 503 Chapmen Avenue.

Our partners at the Elkhart Truth report Tolbert was convicted of resisting law enforcement after leading police on a high-speed chase back in Sept. 2012.

He failed to appear at his trial last week, but a 12-member jury found him guilty of resisting law enforcement and auto theft, both Class D felonies. He was also found guilty of forgery, a class C felony.
