ELKHART, Ind. - It is time to make way for bikers. A proposal, that would require drivers to allow a three-foot buffer when they go around cyclists, is moving forward in the Elkhart City Council.

Our reporting partners at The Elkhart Truth say the public health and safety committee voted unanimously to send the proposal back to the full council with a "do pass" recommendation.

South Bend already has a similar policy.

The soonest the Elkhart Council could consider the plan is Aug. 4, at their next regular meeting.
