A Michiana county won't receive federal assistance to help with the damage left behind by a severe winter storm.

Governor Mike Pence announced nine additional counties that will receive the grant, after much of the Hoosier State was plagued by intense winter snow and cold.

Elkhart County didn't make the cut.

Back in March, Pence requested assistance from FEMA for 49 counties.

It was initially denied, but Pence appealed the decision.

This new approval means 28 out of 49 potentially eligible counties will get some form of aid.
