Elkhart County Community Foundation gives $75,000 grant for students to visit museums

Elkhart, Ind. For some time, fewer people have been visiting Elkhart County museums, and association members have come up with a solution.

According to our reporting partners at the Elkhart Truth, museum members have decided to get community support to fund field trips for local students.

This serves two purposes, students get a chance to visit more local attractions and local museums get to serve more visitors.

The Elkhart County Community Foundation gave the museum association a $75,000 grant to kick off the project this fall.

And the responses from teachers have been immediate. Requests have been entered for nearly 7,700 students to go on field trips.
